Although the team at Dental Excellence does everything in their power to treat your dental conditions in a conservative manner, there are times when dental surgery is necessary to correct serious problems. Fortunately, six of our dentists have either achieved their Master’s Degree in Dental Surgery or their Doctorate in Dental Surgery in addition to excelling in traditional dental school. This important distinction qualifies them to perform these types of oral surgery.

Bone Grafting

When teeth fall out, they fail to provide much-needed stimulation to the underlying tissue, and the bone actually starts to resorb, or melt away. This process occurs quickly, with the bone surrounding the missing tooth resorbing as much as 25% within the first year following the loss. Fortunately, bone grafting can be performed to strengthen the bone and pave the way for dental implants. During bone grafting, a small incision is made near the weakened jaw, and ground bone tissue is packed around the bone. After a few months, the area heals and is healthy enough for an implant or additional dental work.

Dental Implants

Modern dental implants offer a wide range of benefits, including being easy to care for, protecting the underlying bone tissue and creating an incredibly realistic appearance. In order for dental implants to integrate with your natural jaw tissue, they have to be placed properly and monitored carefully. The dental surgeons at Dental Excellence have extensive experience placing implants, and can help you to enjoy the smile of your dreams.

Wisdom Teeth Removal

Impacted wisdom teeth can cause several frustrating problems, including making your teeth crooked, becoming infected, and creating an extreme amount of pain. Dental surgeons provide wisdom teeth removal to help smiles to stay healthy and beautiful.

Corrective Jaw Surgery

If you were born with congenital birth defects, severely crooked teeth, or bite problems, you might need corrective jaw surgery to improve your appearance and your health. Corrective jaw surgery involves analyzing the individual anatomy of your jaw and smile and determining how to correct the problem, improving the ability to talk, chew, and smile.

TMJ Treatment

Issues with the temporomandibular joint can cause a popping noise or sensation and a tremendous amount of pain, which is why dental surgeons also handle TMJ surgery. Corrective TMJ surgeries range from simple injections to relieve tight muscles to open-joint surgery to replace or repair the joint itself.

Oral and Facial Trauma

If your mouth or jaw has been injured due to a blow to the face, a car accident, or any other kind of facial trauma, you may need dental surgery to restore your appearance. Since every situation is different, doctors will start by carefully evaluating your personal injuries and anatomy to identify which operations would be most helpful for correcting the problem.
